HERO Academy is a four-session training program designed to take you beyond the minimum requirements and help you develop the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to carry with confidence.

Your Path to Confident Concealed Carry
Rather than spending an entire day in a classroom, you'll progress through four focused sessions that allow you to learn, practice, and absorb the material along the way.
HERO Academy is limited to 6 students per session.
Must complete all 4 sessions.
Sessions can be taken in any order.
Protection & Defense
Personal protection begins long before a firearm is ever needed. Learn the principles of home defense, situational awareness, conflict avoidance, personal safety planning, and the responsibilities that come with protecting yourself and your family. This session focuses on developing a defensive mindset and understanding your options before, during, and after a potential threat.
Use of Force
Understand when force may be legally justified, the principles of self-defense law, and the critical decisions that must be made before, during, and after a defensive encounter. Learn how Ohio law applies to self-defense, defense of others, and defense of your home.
Encounters & Aftermath
What happens after a defensive incident? Learn how to interact with responding officers, what to expect during an investigation, and how to navigate the legal, emotional, and practical aftermath of a critical event. This session prepares you for the realities that follow a self-defense encounter.
Handgun Fundamentals
Build confidence on the range while developing safe gun-handling skills, marksmanship fundamentals, and introductory defensive shooting techniques. Learn how to effectively operate your firearm under realistic conditions while reinforcing the skills needed for responsible armed self-defense.
Exceeds Ohio Concealed Carry Requirements
HERO Academy exceeds the State of Ohio's concealed carry training requirements by providing approximately 10 hours of instruction rather than the minimum 8 hours required for certification.

The additional training time is dedicated to scenario-based decision-making using our advanced laser simulator. Students will be placed in realistic self-defense situations that require them to assess threats, make decisions under pressure, and experience the consequences of those decisions in a safe learning environment.

Because carrying a firearm is about far more than marksmanship, these scenarios help students develop situational awareness, judgment, and confidence before they ever face a real-world encounter.

The goal of HERO Academy isn't simply to help you obtain a permit...
it's to help prepare you for the responsibilities that come with carrying a firearm.
